SAVANNA is Volume II of SYMFAUNIA® — a 120GB Kontakt instrument built from the living sound of the savanna and transformed into expressive, playable and cinematic musical material.
Lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas and savanna birdlife become expressive leads, pulses, drones, organic percussion, transitions and evolving textures. Play the savanna like a living orchestra, shaping animal gestures with non-vibrato, vibrato, flutter, short (staccato), trills, runs, falls, rises, SFX and mordents — turning roars, calls, breath, hoof movement, wingbeats and herd motion into melody, rhythm, tension and performance.
Move from a distant predator call to a commanding melodic phrase, from heavy breath to low cinematic pressure, or from hoofbeats and collective movement to driving organic rhythm. Each articulation gives you another way to perform the instinct and motion of the savanna rather than simply trigger a recording, while preserving the scale, character and living energy of the original source.
Rooted in the vast sonic landscape of the African savanna, SAVANNA turns animal presence into composition. Its sources include lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas and savanna birdlife — captured not as decorative ambience, but as raw material that can be performed, layered, stretched and reshaped.
The identity of each source remains audible. A call can become a melodic gesture. Hoof movement can become pulse. Breath can become texture. Herd motion can create momentum. A roar or distant animal resonance can move from recognizable wildlife into cinematic weight, rhythm, tension or atmosphere.
Roars, calls, breath, hoof movement, wingbeats and collective motion are shaped into an expressive performance language. Move between non-vibrato and vibrato, introduce flutter or precise short (staccato) attacks, build momentum with trills and runs, or create expressive movement with falls, rises, mordents and SFX. Each articulation is designed to turn instinctive animal gestures into phrases you can play, shape and place naturally inside a composition.
Stay close to the recognizable character of the source for organic realism, or push it into new territory through pitching, layering, automation and sound design. The result is more than a collection of wildlife recordings: it is a responsive palette built around movement, expression and musical intent — sounds that can stalk, gather, accelerate, breathe, strike, recede and open into space.
Each part of the ecosystem brings a different physical signature. Lions contribute authority, weight and raw vocal power; elephants bring depth, breath and large-scale resonance; zebras and wildebeest introduce herd motion, hoof-driven pulse and collective energy; hyenas add restless vocal character and tension; while savanna birdlife brings air, detail, distance and rapid movement.
Around that wildlife core, the art direction carries a restrained Maasai-inspired sense of earth, red, horizon and collective rhythm — a subtle marketing accent that supports the savanna atmosphere without taking focus away from the animals themselves.
SAVANNA is built to move between majesty and danger, stillness and pursuit, vulnerability and force. Its palette can suggest an immense horizon at first light, a predator moving beyond sight, a herd gathering into motion, heat suspended over the grasslands or a sudden burst of life breaking through silence.
Use that contrast as a compositional tool — from nearly invisible organic detail to the central identity of a cue. The sounds can support the scene quietly or become the scene's defining musical voice.
